0 km 504-0 STAGE START: From Circle, go straight taking the road going West.
230 m 504-0.23 At Y, turn L and continue winding down along the road.
2.4 km 504-2.4 Keep on along road, bypassing a bend on its R.
4.9 km 504-4.9 At valley bottom, Leave paved road to L onto 4×4 and follow it L up valley.
5.4 km 504-5.4 Where the fence on the R ends, go down R, cross little valley, then up on R edge of rocks and continue up the limestone hillside, generally SSW.
6.2 km 504-6.2 Descend towards R side of valley along edge of ploughed field, then down into valley.
6.5 km 504-6.5 Cross to L side and go up onto its L edge, then follow the valley up, to reach a fence.
6.8 km 504-6.8 Go L and follow the fence as it turns R, up the hill.
7 km 504-7 When the fence ends continue up in same direction, up then down towards a valley, meeting a paved road.
7.4 km 504-7.4 At paved road, turn R and follow it West with an olive grove on L.
7.7 km 504-7.7 Leave the road that is going uphill, and follow a fence on L lowed down in same direction, up the R side of a valley.
7.9 km 504-7.9 When the fence ends, continue alongside the ploughed valley, then cross it where it forks, to reach the R side of its small L fork. Go up, crossing to L and continue up the hill when it ends, generally SW, crossing a track but keeping on up.
8 km 504-8 Follow a path South a short way, trending L to follow R side of a valley
8.3 km 504-8.3 Valley branches L. Go L between fields, and up the main valley, going R at the top onto a limestone hillside heading just L of the house on the top of the hill.
8.9 km 504-8.9 Cross paved road on ridge and follow a dirt track round the hill to meet a paved road.
9.3 km 504-9.3 Cross paved road and keep heading for L side of house on hill, passing L of fences
9.7 km 504-9.7 Keep heading for L side of house on hill.
9.9 km 504-9.9 From house, turn L (SE) following 4×4 all the way to paved road.

10.7 km 504-10.7 At junction, go straight across the road and into the top of a narrow valley with olive groves. Follow it down, first on the L, then to meet a better track at a building. Continue on this, soon crossing to R side and follow it down just above the wadi, with olive trees and caves, eventually meeting the road at Ain el Beidha.
11.7 km 504-11.7 Cross paved road and continue on 4×4.
12 km 504-12 At Y, turn L onto an old road.
12.1 km 504-12.1 At Y, turn R leaving old road to footpath.
12.4 km 504-12.4 Cross water channel and continue along footpath.
12.5 km 504-12.5 Continue down footpath with water channel on R.
12.6 km 504-12.6 At T, turn R and continue along 4×4.
13 km 504-13 Hit new paved road and turn L heading to Ma’atan village. (Ma’atan village and visitors center visible down south)

Basic Info:

Some road work to start, but little traffic and downhill with good views out past Tafileh to the Dead Sea, and easy walking. Once in the valley bottom a track heads off over rolling hills which are crossed enjoyably on small paths eventually arriving high above a small but pretty valley which is followed down on paths past olive groves at the end of which the way crosses a road. Continue down the side of the wadi passing more olive groves and orchards before arriving at the renovated ancient cliff top village of Ma’tan, dramatically located high above Wadi Labun.
